How it works
- 1
Pick your rep count when you set the alarm. Five is the floor, one hundred is the ceiling.
- 2
When it rings, prop the phone against something and get your whole body in frame.
- 3
Reps count on screen as you do them. Hit your number and the alarm stops mid ring.
You set 5 to 100 push-ups, in steps of 5, whatever number you can live with at 6am
Why it works
Nobody has ever done a push-up and then gone back to sleep. That is not a scientific claim, but it holds up in practice. Your heart rate goes up, your hands are on the floor, and the argument about whether you are getting up today has already quietly ended.
The counting uses your front camera and Apple’s body pose detection, which finds your shoulder, elbow and wrist and measures the angle between them. Down past ninety degrees arms the rep, back up past a hundred and sixty completes it. A twitch cannot count twice, since reps need just over half a second between them, and the reading is smoothed across three frames so one bad frame does not rob you of one you earned.
Two situations make it stop counting deliberately. If your torso reads upright for a sustained second and a half it decides you are sitting, and credits nothing. If your shoulders are in shot but your hips are not, it decides the phone has been aimed to hide what your body is doing. Both rules exist because people tried both things. Setup is quick otherwise: prop the phone, step back until you fit on screen, and a skeleton overlay tells you when it can see you. If it never gets a clear read, a bail button appears after ninety seconds and hands you a regular mission, but the alarm rings through all of it. A camera having a bad morning is not a reason to let you off.
Who it’s for
Push-Ups suits anyone whose problem is not the alarm itself but the twenty minutes of fog after it. Physical missions cut through that faster than puzzles do, which is why heavy sleepers usually arrive here having tried everything gentler first. Every mission is free, and your alarm fires one at random from the ones you enabled, so mix this with something kinder and let chance decide how your Tuesday goes.
FAQ
Push-Ups, answered.
Can I cheat the push-up alarm?
Half reps do not count. The phone tracks your elbow angle and only credits a rep when the arm has gone under ninety degrees and back past one sixty. It also stops counting if you look like you are sitting up.
How many push-ups can I set?
Anywhere from 5 to 100, in fives. Five is genuinely enough to end the argument with your own body, and most people who start there creep upward on their own.
What if it won't count my reps?
After ninety seconds with nothing counted, a button appears that swaps you to a regular tapping mission. Nothing gets switched off for free, it just stops demanding push-ups from a camera that cannot see you.
Does the camera record me?
No. Frames are read on your device to find your body position and are never uploaded. There is no push-up footage anywhere.

Pick as many as you like.
When the alarm rings, one of the missions you picked fires, chosen at random. Finish it and the alarm stops on the spot.
