Same mission, in your browser.
No download, no sound. Finish it and the alarm stops, exactly like it does at 6:30.
Swipe each arrow in the direction it points.
Drag at least 50px, or use the arrow keys.
Alarm dismissed
That's exactly how it works in the app.
Shown at the app's default: 10 arrows. In the app you pick 10 to 300. A swipe has to travel at least 50 points before it counts, so a sleepy half-flick does nothing.
How it works
- 1
Set how many swipes you want when you add the mission, from ten upward.
- 2
When it rings, an arrow appears pointing up, down, left or right. Swipe that way.
- 3
Reach your count and the alarm stops. You can try the real thing on this page.
You set 10 to 300 correct swipes, in steps of 10
Why it works
Swiping sits in a useful middle ground. It is more physical than tapping, since your whole hand and forearm have to move, but it needs no space, no camera and no noise. Each round also demands a small decision, because you have to read where the arrow points before you can move, and that reading step is what keeps you from finishing the mission asleep.
The distance threshold is what keeps it honest. A swipe has to travel about fifty points before it gets classified at all, and whichever axis you moved further along is the one that counts. Short thumb twitches register as nothing, which is the rule that stops the mission from becoming rapid scribbling in the middle of the screen. Every drowsy person tries that within ten seconds.
Wrong swipes cost nothing at all. They are ignored, with no penalty and no lost progress, and that was a choice rather than an oversight, because an alarm mission that gets harder while you are struggling is an alarm mission people delete. Ten swipes is the floor and is frankly a formality. The dial runs to three hundred in tens, fifty is roughly where it starts asking something of you, and the alarm stops the moment your last correct swipe lands. There is a live version on this page with the same arrows and the same threshold. It is much easier sitting up with your eyes open, which is worth remembering before you set your count at ten.
FAQ
Swipe Arrows, answered.
What happens if I swipe the wrong way?
Nothing at all. A wrong direction is ignored rather than punished, so the mission never gets harder because you were sloppy. It just does not count, and the next one is waiting.
How long does a swipe have to be?
About fifty points of travel, which is roughly a thumb's length on screen. Anything shorter is treated as a tap or a wobble and is ignored, so lazy flicks near the middle of the screen do nothing.
Can I swipe diagonally?
The longer axis of your movement is what counts, so a sloppy diagonal still lands as up, down, left or right. You do not have to be precise, you have to actually move.
How many swipes is enough?
Ten is the floor and is over in seconds. Somewhere around fifty it becomes a real task. Three hundred is the ceiling and would take a few solid minutes of attention.
